Meet the Team

Hugh Cotter

Hugh Cotter
AIA, LEED AP

Principle & Project Architect

At Solas/Oculus since 1998.

I was always interested in exploring the process of how buildings come to be—from design to construction— and in creating spaces that people genuinely enjoy.

I love connecting with clients about their project visions and then translating that into a building’s design.

Away from work, I can be found birding around San Francisco and across the globe.

Susan 1!

Susan Coghlan

Director of Marketing

At Solas/Oculus since 2008.

I am not an architect myself, but have long appreciated the creative, collaborative process required to design and construct buildings.

My favorite aspect of the job is chronicling and highlighting the team’s accomplishments and successes.

I enjoy cycling, hiking, and travelling to places near and far.

Jamie 1!

Jamie Doyle
MRIAI

Principle & Designer

At Solas/Oculus since 2010.

My father was an architect, so at an early age I became intrigued with the profession and was inspired to follow in his footsteps. His work continues to motivate my designs.

I love the design process and the problem-solving necessary throughout. It is a joy to work with contractors to transform a design concept into a structure that never existed before.

I teach architecture at USF, make jewelry, and kayak around San Francisco Bay.

Xiajun 1!

Xiajun Lin
AIA, LEED AP

Senior Healthcare Architect

At Solas/Oculus since 2018.

I have always been interested in all topics associated with the art of Making. This fascination led me to study architectural design and planning during my high school years, and eventually set the path for my journey to become an architect.

My favorite part of the job is the constant engagement of the unknown. There is never a dull moment working on healthcare? OSHPD projects.

Amateur Lepidopterist, Gardening, Outdoor Adventurers, Hosting spontaneous parties in my backyard and Terrorizing my neighbors with screeching fiddle playing on some weekends.

Mily 1!

Mily Seto
AIA, LEED AP, CASP

Architect

At Solas/Oculus since 2004.

I’ve always loved creating and drawing things. The ideas first popped into my head when a high school trached recommended that I pursue architecture. When I was in college, I would stay up all night to finish projects for my design and studio courses, which felt more like fun electives than classes.

I love bringing our clients’ visions to life by creating functional spaces with well designed aesthetics.

I knit, practice Tai Chi, and enjoy traveling. I’m also a licensed Zumba and Dance Fitness instructor, and volunteer to teach classes for the community.

Magda 1!

Magda Freitas
LEED Associate

Senior Designer

At Solas/Oculus since 2013.

I chose architecture because of the artistic possibilities it presents to create and shape our physical environment on different scales. Throughout my career, I have become more interested in how the formal architectural aspects dialogue with the construction materials and technology.

I love the creative elements of this work.

In my free time, I enjoy cooking and dining with friends.
